In this
novel, of which social aspect is dominant, the life story and adventures of an
idealistic guy who had struggled against fanatic and self-seeking powers in a
town in the Aegian region, is narrated. He was trained in the madrasa first,
but later he graduated from the teachers' training college. ln this story,
written within the enthusiastic atmosphere of Atatürk's revolutions with strong
intuitions and observations, all the big problems of the society were discussed
bravely. The story's most important character is Şahin Hodja and his features forming
his personality, his struggles, and the story of his defeats can be accounted
in the novel.
